Events Coordinator
Wow, you just got selected for a great role!
Yet nobody really does it well, and helps bind the
chapter, and at the training courses it doesn't come
across as though anyone knows what to do either
- Why should we have special
events?
Referrals come from people who trust you to deliver. TRUST YOU!
So how do they come to trust you? They have to know you. Ideally
they have a reason to use your service, but maybe that is hard
to arrange. So, you can also, get to know them personally. Let
them see you are a great friendly person. How can you do that?
Set up some social events and ATTEND
- What happens when BNI people go
to a party?
What I have seen is they talk to each other a lot....
about BNI mostly... and often there is business talk... and the
more you learn about them and they learn about you, hey even a
common interest, the more chance there is of a referral
appearing out of nowhere.
- Start with Christmas
Obvious I hope but actually not. It took five years before
we had a proper Christmas party at my Chapter. Why so reticent?
I guess because a) we are so British and reserved b) It took
that long for a core of friends to build up c) the right person
was there as a catalyst to make it happen
- If you are an events organiser....
Then for goodness sake get this role, or at least help with
this role as soon as possible. What are you nuts? Run an event
for free. Make it a big one, and invite members from other
Chapters too, and make it brilliant! Then you will get some
referrals!
So grab the chance to demonstrate how to make a great
event happen. Show off your brilliant organisational
skills and then let the referrals roll in......
